For Patients - About your visit, Forms, Billing and Insurance

What can I expect at my first visit?

If you are a new patient to us, your first visit will be either 60 or 90 minutes long and be conducted with either Dr. Cetel or Dr. Loewy, depending on the nature of your sleep complaint. A comprehensive sleep evaluation will be conducted and may include a brief physical examination. You will also be asked to complete a sleep disorders questionnaire that can be emailed to you for completion in advance of your visit. Based on the information obtained at this initial visit, the sleep specialist will formulate a diagnosis and offer a recommended treatment plan for your consideration which may or may not involve an overnight sleep study.

Billing

Co-pays are due at each visit. We will bill the remainder of the fee to your insurance company.

Insurance & Fee for Service

We accept most private insurance as well as Medicare and TriCare for all sleep services except the Cognitive Behavior for Insomnia (CBTI) Program. Medicare and Tricare will cover the CBTI program but for patients with private insurance, it is an out of network service. CBTI is “fee for service” meaning that payment is due at each visit it the form of cash, check, or credit card. You will need to submit a claim to your carrier for reimbursement. We will provide you with any necessary documentation to make the process easier.

Prescription Refills

Most prescriptions can be refilled by contacting us at 858-224-1866 and selecting the corresponding menu option.

Missed Appointments

We reserve a significant amount of time in our schedule for patients’ visits and these slots cannot be filled on short notice. We respectfully request, therefore, that you provide a minimum notice of 48 business hours if you need to cancel or post-pone your visit. Appointments missed or canceled within 24 hours will be charged a fee.
